About

About Priya Arts

Priya Maharjan has been painting Kathmandu for twelve years — its festivals, its streets, its mountains and rivers. She works primarily in ink-wash and watercolour, drawn to the tension between loose gesture and precise observation.

Her studio is in Patan, a ten-minute walk from Durbar Square. Every print in the shop is made from an original painting. Nothing is generated, nothing is filtered — just paint, paper, and time.

What people say

The Annapurna diptych is the first thing guests notice when they walk into our home. We've had it a year and still stop to look at it every morning.

Priya painted our dog as a surprise gift for my wife. The likeness was perfect — she cried. Worth every rupee.

Ordered the Kathmandu zine on a whim and read it cover to cover that afternoon. It captures something about this city that photographs never quite do.
